FCYFC targets the next generation of female footballers after scoring funding from the FA

Falmouth Community Youth Football Club is celebrating the next generation of female players after receiving a £1500 Grow the Game grant.

The scheme, which is funded by The Football Association [The FA] and delivered by the Football Foundation, will enable Falmouth Community Youth Football Club to create their under 16’s girls football team, providing a significant boost to female participatory opportunities in Falmouth.

The Grow the Game scheme sees grants of £1,500 awarded to community football clubs wishing to create new teams, especially amongst under-represented groups.

This year, funding was made available for clubs looking to create new female and disability football teams, which can assist towards the costs of FA coaching courses; FA league affiliation costs; referees’ fees; first aid kits; football kit and equipment.

Luchana Luckett, coach of the under 16’s girls’ team, commented: “With this amazing grant from The FA and the Football Foundation, we are able to fully develop our group of 13 girls (all aged 14 & 15). This grant will go a long way towards helping them to enter a league and play some competitive football. We hope that the creation of this team will inspire more girls to play football.”
